About myself

Everything began while volunteering in Honduras!!!

After university degree I decided to volunteer in Latin America. A good friend of mine told me that there are a lot of volunteer opportunities in Honduras. Honduras? Where is Honduras? I have never heard about Honduras before. I bought some books and read a lot of information about Honduras in the Internet. Honestly I was fascinated by the variety Honduras offers and signed the contract with a non-profit organization in the same week.

What I never expected to happen was that I felt in love with an Honduran in the first weeks of my stay. That is why I wrote in my first sentence "everything began while volunteering in Honduras"

I am Swiss, 32 years old, married with a Honduran and mother of 2 children. My husband and I decided some time ago to move from Switzerland to Honduras to start a new, less stressful life. Our objective was to work less and to spend more time with our children. When we arrived in Tegucigalpa, capital city of Honduras, there we had an awful lot to do. I have to admit that we had much less time for our children during the first weeks than in Switzerland. That’s life!!! Looking for an apartment in a safe area which is affordable, buying furniture, to get our luggage which we sent by air freight, medical assurance, my residency, etc.  It was very helpful that my husband grew up in Honduras and knows the Honduran culture from A to Z.  Additionally he has many brothers, sisters, cousins, uncles, aunts, etc. - a big Honduran family who enormously supported us.

As I mentioned before our first few months were not at all relaxing. It took quite a long time to get everything done. Well, the life in Honduras is not that stressful as in Switzerland – however you need much more patience because everything goes very slowly. Thanks to the support of our family and friends we could manage everything in a reasonable time. I really do not know how we would have done without their support.

To summarize the last months I can say that it is essential to know the right people here in Honduras. We learnt a lot about the bureaucracy,  the legal processes, documentations, etc.

Are you planning to move to Honduras and have no clue how to find the right place to live, how to get your residence permit, where to buy your car or furniture, etc? Let me know.  I am glad to support you.   In the following pages we are describing our services.

“It is all about knowing the right contact people …… “
